20th & Susquehanna Avenue, Philadelphia PA 1884-87; demolished
This commission was variously credited to Eyre, William E. Jackson (1857-1930), his associate in Sims's office and long after, and to the partnership of Eyre and Jackson. Both had strong connections to the client: head of the building committee was Mrs. John Lucas, mother-in-law of Charles A. Potter, Eyre's client at The Anglecot the year before; and Jackson's sister Laura was one of the hospital's five physicians. Documents close to the building process indicate that Jackson dealt with the client and was the architect of record, but the style of the whole and its details suggests either Eyre's hand or his very strong influence on Jackson.
Construction began in July 1884 and was completed in October 1887. The last stages involved an addition with kitchen, laundry, and boiler facilities.
