In conjunction with the Open House, we are holding our fourth annual “Demystifying Design Professions: Perspectives on Diversity” event on Sunday, November 8th from 1pm – 5.30pm, with a small reception to follow. The goal of this event is to expose undergraduates to a range of design professions in which persons of color and economically disadvantaged groups are underrepresented, to clarify the graduate school process, and to offer networking opportunities with current graduate students.

The weekend is being organized by the School of Design’s Black Student Alliance (BSA). By offering panels, workshops on the graduate school process, and portfolio reviews we hope to reduce the barriers to entry within the disciplines of architecture, urban planning, historic preservation, fine arts, and landscape architecture.

All are welcome to attend. For more information and to register, please email pdbsa@design.upenn.edu with your name, contact information and program(s) in which you are interested.
A limited number of travel stipends are available. To apply for a stipend, email pdbsa@design.upenn.edu with your name, background, how you’re travelling to the city, and the reasons you’re most interested in PennDesign. The deadline to apply for a travel stipend is Monday, October 26th.
