DEPARTMENT OF ARCHITECTURE
Study Abroad Opportunity @ the Architectural Association (AA) in London
Beginning in the fall semester 2000, up to fifteen third-year students in the Department of Architecture will be permitted to enroll in the Architectural Association (AA) in London on a full-time basis in a special program. Students in the program will enroll in ARCH 701: Design Studio V, taught by Homa Farjadi, and 2-3 elective courses offered by the faculty at the AA. The studio and courses will be taught at the AA facilities in Bedford Square, London.
"A special alliance has been established between the Department of Architecture and the AA in London," announced Richard Wesley, Head of the Department of Architecture. "The AA is a preeminent school of architecture with excellent courses in architectural design, theory, and technology. Their exhibitions, lectures, and publication series are among the best in the world. London is an exciting environment for contemporary architects and provides a rich historical context within which to study architecture. Our alliance with the AA will enable some of our upper-level students to take advantage of a rare educational opportunity."
Students in the program will pay full-time tuition to the University of Pennsylvania and be responsible for their own travel and living expenses. Foreign students will need to obtain a visa to the United Kingdom. Students who are selected to participate in the program must be full-time and will be in the fifth semester of the 3-year professional degree program during their time abroad. Students who are selected must be in good academic standing.
