On the Face of It: Video Mapping and the Architectural Façade
Eran Neuman studied architecture at the Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem and at the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA). He specializes mostly in post-war architecture and its theories. Neuman explores the influence that ideas, science and technology have on design. A passionate of digital architecture, continues to seek innovations while also analyzing the historical determinants of the contemporary architectural design.
Neuman teaches at Tel Aviv University, where he is a Head of the Azrieli School of Architecture at Yolanda and David Katz Faculty of the Arts. He participates in conferences and seminars all over the world; his research was presented e.g. at the Princeton University, Harvard University, Tongji University, Shanghai, University of Toronto, Monash University, Melbourne and more. Eran published extensively: his book "Shoah Presence: Architectural Representation of the Holocaust" came out last June; "Performalism: Form and Performance in Digital Architecture" (2012, Routledge, Co-edited with Yasha Grobman); "The Labyrinth: Ram Karmi and the Extension of Tel Aviv Central Station" (Tel Aviv University Press, 2013); "David Yannay: Genetics and Architecture" (eds., Tel Aviv Museum of Art press, 2014). He published articles in e.g. “Architectural Design”, “Journal of Architectural Education” and “Theory and Criticism”. Collaborates with the Association for Computer Aided Design in Architecture (ACADIA).
In 2003 he founded, together with Aaron Sprecher and Chandler Ahrens, Open Source Architecture (OSA), an international research centre. It researches on the high-tech architecture.
