PROJECT SUMMARY
Lancaster City, located in South Central Pennsylvania, is the county seat of Lancaster County, located 40 miles east of Harrisburg, 70 miles west of Philadelphia, and 80 miles north of Baltimore. After a recent history involving unsuccessful urban renewal projects and commercial disinvestment, the City is entering a new stage of opportunity supported by the confluence of strong, motivated leadership, increased civic engagement, and burgeoning development activity. This plan synchronizes new investment, opportunities, and existing assets in a unified strategy to benefit the physical, economic, and social fabric of Lancaster City.

PLANNING CONCEPTS
Reinvent
-Envision new identity for area around Amtrak Station.
-Revitalize the northern portion of the Prince-Queen Corridor

Engage
-Expand appeal of downtown arts/retail district to engage different groups throughout the community

Connect
-Create grander gateway experience to connect the City to its neighbors
-Provide recommendations to create a more contiguous and attractive streetscape.
-Improve access between activity centers through transportation improvements
-Unite the City's diverse cultural and historic identities through inclusive resources

Strengthen
-Retain current artists and attract new artists to the Arts Corridor
-Reinforce Lancaster City's multicultural and heritage
-Protect the City's historical architecture
