Setting Up Printers in Leopard
The following instructions are designed to help users, with OS X Leopard (10.5), use the printers and plotters in our environment. Please read through the instructions completely before trying them.
In addition, after you setup the Kerberos Manager, and install all of the necessary components, you will only need to follow the instructions for Adding a Printer.
If you are using Tiger, please use these instructions.

Install Kerberos Manager
- Download the Kerberos Installer
- Launch kerberos530

Select Applications as the destination

Leave Easy Installation select, then click on Install

Click on Quit when the install finishes
Install KSMB
This install will require you to logout and login again.
- Download the KSMB Installer
- Open ksmbprintd_v1.0.dmg

Launch ksmbprintd_v1.0

Click on Continue

Click on Install
-
Click on Continue Installation

Click on Logout
Install HP Z6100 Drivers
- Download the HP Z6100 Installer
- Open Mac_OS_X_HP_Designjet_Installer.dmg
- Launch Mac OS X HP Designjet Installer
- Click on Continue
- Click on Continue
- Click on Continue
- Select Custom Install, then click on the Install buton
- Uncheck HP Printer Utility, then click on Install
Configure Kerberos
- Open Applications/Kerberos
- Select Edit -> Edit Realms
- Click on the + to add a realm
- Enter DESIGN.UPENN.EDU in Realm Name
- Click on the Servers tab, then click the + to enter the following servers
JANUS.DESIGN.UPENN.EDU
CARDEA.DESIGN.UPENN.EDU
- Click on Domains, click the +, and enter design.upenn.edu, then click on OK
- Click on New
- For Realm, select DESIGN.UPENN.EDU, then enter your Design username and password in the appropriate fields, and click on OK
- Note the new ticket
Adding a Printer
- Open System Preferences, then go to Print & Fax
- Click on the + to add a new printer

Now, if you don't see the Advanced button on the top, you'll need to do the next few steps...
- Control+Click in the top toolbar, and select Customize Toolbar
- Drag the Advanced button onto the top toolbar, then click on the Done button.
- Now, click on the Advanced tab

- For Type, select Windows Printer via SAMBA with kerberos support v1.0
- For Type, select Windows Printer via SAMBA with kerberos support v1.0
- In URL, enter the printer name after ksmb://Vulcan/
For example, to add the ADDM-Z6100 printer, you would enter ksmb://Vulcan/ADDM-Z6100
- For Print Using, choose Select a driver to use, then select the appropriate driver.
Note: You can type in part of the model of the printer (such as z6100), and it will search for an appropriate driver.
- When you are finished, click on Add
