With so many of our new students arriving on campus today and over the next few weeks, we thought it would be a great time to remind the PennDesign community (and prospective members of our community!) about all of the bicycle resources that Penn and Philadelphia have to offer since many of our students, staff, and faculty bike to and from campus daily.
Penn Campus Bike Map
Go to the Penn Campus Map here, and then click the “Biking Penn” button just above the map to see the biking-related items, such as bike lanes, racks, and repair station locations.
Bike Repair Stations
The stations include all of the tools necessary to perform basic repairs and maintenance, from changing a flat to adjusting brakes and derailleur gears. Hanging your bike from the hanger arms allows the pedals and wheels to spin freely while making adjustments. There are three (3) bike repair stations on campus: 34th and Chestnut Streets (in the outdoor parking lot on the northeast corner of the intersection) 34th Street between Walnut and Spruce Streets (by the Chemistry Building’s bike racks) Walnut Street between 37th and 38th Streets (by the Pottruck Fitness Center’s bike racks)
Bike Sharing Stations
The Penn Community can take advantage of the City of Philadelphia's integrated bike share system, Indego. This program features over 600 self-service bicycles and 70 bike share stations throughout Philadelphia. Three stations are located on campus: at 40th and Spruce, near the University City Station Regional Rail Station, and 36th and Sansom. For more information about Indego, station locations throughout the City, membership registration, or a map of the city-wide docking stations, visit Philadelphia's bike share program website at www.RideIndego.com.
