We ask all incoming first-year Historic Preservation students to participate in the summer workshop as it serves several purposes: it gives everyone a start on getting oriented to Philadelphia and its history and architecture; it provides a chance to begin working with the Program’s faculty; it gives you a chance to get to know one another in the first-year cohort as well as the group of second-years; and the workshop introduces some of the important skills, questions, and issues that will be at the center of your first year’s work in the Program (especially, the skills of documentation, descriptive analysis of buildings and places, and critical historiography).
