The David G. De Long Fellowship Fund

Last Update 08.17.07

Established in 2003 to honor PennDesign professor Dr. David G. De Long, the De Long Fellowship provides tuition support to an outstanding graduate student in historic preservation at Penn.

Prof. De Long was awarded the status of emeritus professor of architecture in 2003 after eighteen years of teaching at Penn. He continues to teach one semester per year while actively pursuing his scholarly interests in research and writing.

A practicing architect who inspires students to look at the past with understanding and to treat historic environments with sensitivity, Prof. De Long’s teaching is not limited to preservation.

His extensive knowledge of architecture and planning is evidenced by a partial listing of his books: Auldbrass: Frank Lloyd Wright's Southern Plantation; Out of the Ordinary: Venturi Scott Brown Associates; Frank Lloyd Wright and the Living City; Louis I Kahn: In the Realm of Architecture.

Those who have benefited from David De Long's vision are committed to ensuring that his contributions to preservation at Penn and in the profession will always be remembered.
