PennDesign New
York
Last Update 10.24.08
Welcome to the New
York Chapter of PennDesign! This
Chapter provides the opportunity to rekindle friendships and make new connections
with PennDesign alumni in the New York
region.
It's also a forum for bringing together alumni and guests to discuss and
participate in issues/projects affecting all of the PennDesign disciplines: architecture, city and regional planning, fine arts, historic preservation and landscape architecture.
Check out the following section for Upcoming and Recent Events held by the New York Chapter. We hope you'll
get involved! If
you have any questions, or want to volunteer to help,
please contact the NY Chapter at PennDesignNY@gmail.com

RECENT EVENTS |
ART SHOW: The NY chapter held an exciting Art Show during 2 weeks in January. The event showcased 28 NY area alumni artists featuring a variety of work in the mediums of painting, sculpture, photography, drawing and video. The participating artists graduated from PennDesign over the last 50 years -- some are recent graduates, while others are more established and well known in the art community.
The Opening Reception kicked off the Art Show, and turned out to be a wonderful event which was enjoyed by over 200 people! Many hundreds more alumni and guests enjoyed the show while it was exhibited at the Louis Meisel Gallery in Manhattan.
The following are some of the photos from the Reception:
WALKING
TOURS and DISCUSSIONS: The walking tours that we held in Summer 2006 were a big success! We received a lot of positive feedback from the participants of the tours and discussions. Everyone enjoyed the chance to socialize, network, and become informed about interesting things taking place in NYC - especially from professionals involved with the projects and subject matters.
The tours and discussions included the Brooklyn Navy Yard and movie studio, neighborhood/preservation/development areas, and artists' spaces in Manhattan. We plan on coordinating additional tours for next year. If you are interested in helping with the tours, please contact Bridget Dugan at: PennDesignNY@gmail.com
Thanks to all of the participants and tour leaders who made our walking tours such a success! Here are a few photos from some of the tours. (Note: we were unable to get all of the participants in the photos) |
