| FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY |
| Architecture graduates from the past 8 years who have at least one year of experience in the office of a practicing architect are invited to enter the Steedman International Design Competition to win a $30,000 traveling fellowship for architectural research and study in foreign countries for a period of nine months. | Naomi Chung MFA'00 has a solo painting exhibition at Gross McCleaf Gallery, 127 South 16th Street, Philadelphia, through February 21. The opening reception is on Friday, February 3, 5-7pm. |
| Nathaniel Coleman PhD'00 is senior lecturer in architecture and director of architecture and landscape in the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. He also serves as degree program director of the bachelor of architecture and certificate of architectural practice courses, as well as admissions tutor for the bachelor of architecture course. His first individually authored book, Utopias and Architecture, was recently published in the UK and US by Routledge. The work draws on his ongoing research into the role of utopian imagination in the invention of exemplary architecture and includes discussion of the thought and architecture of Le Corbusier, Louis I. Kahn, Aldo van Eyck, Daniel Libeskind, Tod Williams and Billie Tsien and Renzo Piano. |

has published his third book, The History and Development of Digital Art, a collection of essays focusing on the use of digital technology in contemporary art. Yeh has been widely exhibited in the US and abroad at such venues as the Queens Museum of Art, the Kennedy Museum of Art and the Herbert F. Johnson Museum. He currently lives and works in New York City, teaching interactive media courses at Pratt Institute and the Fashion Institute of Technology. |

| Matthew Elliott MArch'85 is pleased to report that Elliott Elliott Norelius Architecture, Blue Hill, ME received a citation for design excellence from AIA New England for the design of a private residence on Blue Hill Bay (pictured at left). He and his fellow principals, Bruce Norelius MArch'86 and Libby Elliott MArch'87, received their masters degrees from Penn. |
| Niall G. Kirkwood MLA'85 chair of the department of landscape architecture at Harvard GSD, was named the Gerald O'Hare Scholar at the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland, where he continued his research on post-industrial landscapes through design studios at Harvard in Newry, Derry and Belfast. He has been awarded the Rai Fellowship for Excellence in Higher Education (2006) in Delhi and Mumbai, India, where he will carry out research work on the Mumbai Mills Project. Working for the Ministerie van Verkeer en Waterstaat, Rijkswaterstaat, Netherlands, he helped a team of 14 graduate students prepare conceptual design ideas for rethinking flood control and urbanization along the Waal River. The SPONGEcity project was displayed in the Rotterdam International Bienalle Exhibition curated by landscape architect Adriaan Gueze. He also carried out preliminary work in Sri Lanka on "Guidelines of sustainable post-tsunami reconstruction" with representatives from Oxfam GB. |

| Keith Moskow MArch'86 reports that 2005 was his firm's "Martha's Vineyard Year." Moskow Architects, Inc received two Honor Design Awards from the Boston Society of Architects for island residences (Arbor House and MV II) and he wrote the book The Houses of Martha's Vineyard about contemporary island architecture (Monacelli Press). |

| Claire Marcus CW'74 BFA'76 MFA'78 created work for two public art projects commemorating Benjamin Franklin at 300. "Kites: Art Takes Flight" will be presented by Main Line Art Center this spring and "A Case for Art" was sponsored by Philadelphia Sculptors last fall. Her piece for that show, "Brainstorm/Silver Lining" is part of the "Sustained Winds" exhibit at Arcadiana Center for the Arts, Lafayette, LA. |

| John Mayson Whalley MLA'60 former partner, Derek Lovejoy Partnership UK, now heads his own landscape firm, JMW International, mainly working on a range of projects throughout Japan. He welcomes opportunities to work in collaboration with Japanese Penn graduates and invites alumni to contact him by email. |
