| ERIC FISCHL TO DELIVER LOCKS LECTURE: April 11 | |
Controversial painter and outspoken artist Eric Fischl will deliver the 4th annual Locks Foundation Distinguished Artist Lecture at the Annenberg Center on Tuesday, April 11, 6pm. Fischl's talk, "The Death of Painting from van Gogh to Chris Burden," will explore the ambiguities he perceives in contemporary society and the drama, narration, sexuality and psychology that characterize his paintings. |

He recently completed a grassland restoration plan for a national wildlife refuge on Long Island, a biological monitoring plan for the Central Pine Barrens of Long Island, a fire management plan for The Nature Conservancy at Ossipee Pine Barrens, NH and biological surveys and management recommendations for several preserves belonging to Scenic Hudson, Hudson River Valley, NY. |
| James Dart MArch'81 reports that NJIT, where he is a special lecturer, and Pratt Institute have been awarded a $300,000 HUD grant to continue their redevelopment efforts in New Orleans. Working with the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), the collaborative neighborhood planning and design study is being led by Ron Shiffman of Pratt. |
| Paul Harding MArch'83 is pleased to announce that his firm, Harding Partners, received two design excellence awards from the AIA Northeast Illinois chapter for Broadview Missionary Baptist Church and Adams Central Elementary School. The firm is the setting for the architectural office scenes in the upcoming film Lake House starring Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves. |
| Frank Lang MArch'89 has been named the director of housing for St. Nicholas NPC, a 30-year-old community development organization in Brooklyn, where he coordinates all of the housing operations including real estate development, tenant counseling and organizing, and asset management of 900+ family, senior and supportive housing units. Previously he worked for nearly 12 years at another CDC, Asian Americans for Equality. |
