STUDIO FEATURE: ECONIC IN RIO

This next news article is part of a concerted effort to bring you student news in this alumni newsline. Stay tuned for future articles and read on for the inaugural feature!
Hollwich studio
Architecture lecturer Matthias Hollwich led ARCH 701 students on a trip to Rio de Janeiro this semester as part of the ECONIC studio (Ecological + Icon). For more on this new studio concept and an interview with Hollwich, see the Club of Pioneers website.

The studio aims to design a building that acts to initiate a new consciousness in society. The design must be based on ecological findings and support Rio's initiative to become the greenest city on earth. Some of the short videos produced by the students are available on You Tube. Pictured above is a collage created by students as part of their midterm review workshop; click here for pictures from the trip.
