Urban Development and Design (UDD)
This specialization focuses on understanding the links
between the physical form and structure of cities and regions
and the economic, social and political forces that shape
them. It provides knowledge about the alternative theories
and methods for the physical improvement of urban places
and includes courses in graphic communication, the history
and theory of design, the context and operation of development
incentives and controls. It encompasses two separate but
inter-related emphases 1) urban development and 2) urban
design.
Students pursuing a Certificate in Urban Design select
two additional electives in consultation with the Director
of the Urban Design Program.
CURRICULUM CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE URBAN DESIGN
CONCENTRATION.
Student entering the program from Fall 2007 on have different
requirements than students who enrolled in the program
prior to Fall 2007.
