Jane Irish, Brian Phillips Awarded Pew Fellowships
Jane Irish and Brian Phillips, two staff members from the University of Pennsylvania School of Design, will each receive a $60,000 award this year from The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage through Pew Fellowships in the Arts (PFA).
Irish, who is the Master of Fine Arts Program Coordinator, is also a practicing artist. She works at the intersection between the decorative and the political, deploying both art and craft with equal engagement (and abandon) to create paintings, sculptures, and objects that stand alone, or are part of elaborate installations.
Phillips is a lecturer for the Department of Architecture and Founding Principal of Interface Studio Architects. His designs couple concerns about environmental cost and sustainability, such as the Templetown Modules recently featured in the New York Times.
