Mumbai, India, regularly endures seasonal battles with effective water management: For much of the year, residents struggle with ineffective freshwater distribution, while thousands of gallons of rainwater inundate the metropolis during the three-month monsoon season. This project proposes a comprehensive solution to water capture, ingeniously incorporating existing networks of streets, footpaths, and public plazas. A system of retaining wells, taps, and conduits captures, controls, and distributes water, providing a fresh resource for up to 25,000 residents. Each component of the proposed network also functions as a civic space. Jurors enthused about the "fantastic hand graphics."
