Llobregat, Spain, is located just 10 minutes from Barcelona's center but is isolated by a major highway. This project seeks to improve the area's connectivity with a minimally intervening strategy. An existing pedestrian loop is expanded and augmented with new loops, strengthening ties among residential districts, agriculatural areas, and the Llobregat River. Creation of a "Linear Park" provides recreational opportunities, as well as a venue for solar energy generation. A constructed wetland provides a much needed reservoir and effective stormwater management. This massive linear design struck a chord with the jurors, who opined, "The more you look at the details, the more you like it."
