TWO Transportation Faculty Openings in City Planning
The Department of City and Regional Planning in the School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania is seeking to strengthen its educational and research initiatives in Transportation Planning and Policy by making two full-time faculty appointments. The first is a senior appointment at the level of Associate or Full Professor, and may be considered for one of Penn's UPS Professorships. The second is junior faculty hire at the level of Assistant Professor.
The successful candidates will have expertise in multi-modal transportation planning and policy; transportation finance; transit operations; freight movement; and/or in the connections between transportation investments and urban development. International as well as domestic knowledge and experience is highly desirable. Each candidate will be expected to teach classes in two or more of the following areas: transportation economics and finance; urban transportation planning and policy; public and mass transit planning and operations; airport and freight transportation planning; urban economics; planning and/or quantitative methods. Experience in additional teaching areas is also desirable.
A candidate for the senior faculty position should be recognized as a thought leader in the transportation field as demonstrated by currently holding tenure at a major research university, a strong record of peer-reviewed publications, and an ability to obtain grant-funded research in collaboration with researchers from other disciplines. Candidates for the junior faculty position should be well positioned for a career as a scholar and researcher as demonstrated by a completed dissertation, appropriate publications, and prior participation on funded (transportation) research projects.
A PhD in City and Regional Planning, Civil and Transportation Engineering, or allied fields is required for both positions.
