Biography

Studied abroad as the recipient of the Albert F. Schenk Traveling Fellowship in Architecture and a fellowship from the Fontainebleau School of Fine Arts and Music. Worked for the Philadelphia City Planning Commission and then as a senior design architect with Vincent G. Kling before establishing his own practice first with Frederick M. Fradley as Bower and Fradley Architects, and then with the late Roger B. Lewis, John E. Thrower (M.Arch.65), and Arthur W. Jones (M.Arch. 62) as Bower Lewis Thrower/Architects.

Examples of Bower's work include Penn's International House (1971) and Vance Hall (1974), two Philadelphia AIA Gold Medal winners. Bower Lewis Thrower/Architects worked with the Marriott Corporation on the 1200 block of Market Street for Philadelphia's main convention center hotel.
