Erick Cárcamo
Biography
Erick Cárcamo currently teaches Architecture at UPENN School of Design, YALE School of Architecture and the University of Kentucky, College of Design; he is currently a Visiting Professor at the National Technical University of Athens NTUA, Greece and Lunds Tekniska Högskola LTH in Sweden. Erick has recently taught at Columbia University, GSAPP; Pratt Institute NY, and the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, die Angewandte. He has worked as Lead Designer for CoopHimmelb(l)au in Vienna, ASYMPTOTE Architecture New York, Xefirotarch in Los Angeles and freelance for Bernard Tschumi Architects, NYC. Born in El Salvador, Erick holds a Masters Degree in Advanced Architectural Design, AAD from Columbia University GSAPP and a Bachelor's Degree from the Southern California Institute of Architecture, SCI_Arc. Erick Carcamo is Principal and co-founder of X|A, which design intentions and processes deviate towards the extreme conditions of innovation and the pure coherence of technique invention; a practice networked in Europe, Latin America and the US, awarded in various international competitions and currently working on commissioned projects in diverse scales. Their expertise is based on experimental multi-layered techniques in animation software, scripting and continuous Academic research. X|A's work also include numerous publications and has exhibited solo shows in New York, Athens-Greece, Los Angeles and Lexington.
