Biography

Ph.D. (Chemistry), Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina

Currently an independent consultant whose main activities include: Scientific Consultant for World Monuments Fund and its Portuguese affiliate WMF-P; Visiting Scientist at the Museum Conservation Institute of the Smithsonian Institution; and, Guest Lecturer at the Raymond Lemaire Centre for Conservation at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium. Has published three books and edited seven others, as well as over one hundred and thirty scientific papers in the field of stone and masonry deterioration and conservation. Has lectured extensively at various universities in Europe and in Latin America.
