Biography

Jane Irish is the Master of Fine Arts program coordinator and painter/visual artist. In 2005, she conceived of, organized, and exhibited in Operation Rapid American Withdrawal: 1970-2005 Exhibition at Ice Box Project Space, Philadelphia. A one person exhibition "History Lesson" was mounted in December 2002 at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and a solo exhibition of her work is scheduled for 2008 at the Locks Gallery in Philadelphia. Irish has had four solo shows in New York (1984-89) and received artist fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, CAPS Creative Artists Program Service, and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. Jane received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Maryland Institute College of Art, and a Master of Fine Arts from Queens College, City University of New York. As an arts administrator, she has worked with the Pew Fellowships in the Arts, The Philadelphia Fringe Festival, Cheltenham Center for the Arts and Chester Springs Studio.
