Painter. Teaches graduate painting. Taught at Tyler School of Art of Temple University; Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture; University of California, Berkeley; Boston University. Academy Award in Art, AAAL (1997); National Foundation for the Arts Visual Artist Fellowships (1981, 1986); Childe Hassam Awards, AAAL (1978, 1982). 29 solo exhibitions since 1970 including Hirschl & Adler Modern, New York (1983, cat., 1985, cat., 1990, cat., 1994, 1997, 1998, cat., 2001, 2003 cat., 2005, cat.); Locks Gallery, Philadelphia (1979, 1987, 1994, cat.); Sala Nonel, Barcelona (1990, cat.); Fischbach Gallery, New York (1973, 1975, 1978, 1980). Work included in public collections from Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and Philadelphia Museum of Art to San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Published monograph, Inventing Reality: The Paintings of John Moore, Therese Dolan, Hudson Hills Press (1996).
