Tom Ryan

Biography

Tom Ryan is principal and founder of Ryan Associates outside of Boston.

Prior to founding Ryan Associates he was a principal at Hargreaves Associates and Burck-Ryan Associates and Senior Associate with Sasaki Associates. He has also collaborated with Field Operations, Martha Schwartz Partners, Raymond Jungles, Stoss, Ground and many other landscape architectural firms in addition to his individual practice.

He is well-known for his expertise in construction methods, documentation and administration. He has worked throughout North America as well as China, the UK and the Middle East.

In the past, he has taught at Harvard GSD, SUNY ESF, and lectured at the University of Virginia, Temple University and Build Boston.

He has participated in several accrediting review teams for the LAAB including landscape architecture graduate programs at IIT, Ohio State University and the University of Florida.  He was inducted to the American Society of Landscape Architects Council of Fellows in 2008.
