Laura Wolf-Powers teaches Urban Economics in the core curriculum for the Masters in City Planning as well as several courses in the Community and Economic Development concentration.
She was the 2004 winner of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning's Barclay Gibbs Jones Award for the best dissertation in planning and was the first prize winner in the economic development category of the National Urban Initiatives Competition sponsored by Clark University, the Community Development Training Institute, Freddie Mac, UMASS-Amherst and the National Community Development Association.
Work/Research
Her research interests include urban labor markets, job-centered economic development, workforce development, and the role of community-based organizations in urban politics and governance.
She is currently working on a 4-city comparison of community benefits agreements, work exploring the potential for growth in the healthcare sector to incorporate low-skilled workers into center city and regional labor markets.
