Career Planning Timelines for PennDesign: Career Services created some printable suggestions for how you can be proactive in planning for your career while still in your program. Individual Advising: Graduate career advisors are available to answer questions about the job/internship search and other career‐related topics, and can provide feedback on resumes and other job‐hunting materials, and provide mock interviews. Call (215) 898‐7530 to schedule an appointment. Walk‐in hours are held daily in Career Services. Walk‐ins are also held periodically in Meyerson each semester.
Workshops and Panels: Career Services provides many workshops on the job search process. Popular workshops include: creating effective job‐hunting materials, interview preparation, networking (and networking using social media), negotiation, and more. Career Services also coordinates panels of alumni and area professionals, with annual topics including “Careers in Architecture and Landscape Architecture” and “Careers in Planning and Preservation.” We also present occasional events on careers in Fine Arts, as well as Women in Design and Planning. Web Resources Tailored for PennDesign: Our website has excellent resources to help you in your job search. Career Plans Survey Reports: Career Services surveys graduating students about their career plans, including information on where they obtain their internships, and posts an annual report of these data on our website. Utilizing your Penn Networks: Penn has a strong network of alumni whom students can reach out to for networking. You are encouraged to join the Penn Alumni LinkedIn Group, the PennDesign LinkedIn Group, and to use QuakerNet (www.myquakernet.com) to connect with Penn alums. Career Connection Day: The annual spring semester career fair (February 17, 2017) is an opportunity for PennDesign students to speak with representatives from a wide range of firms and organizations, some of whom are Penn alumni/ae.
