Karen M'Closkey and Keith VanDerSys, two faculty from the University of Pennsyvlania School of Design's Department of Landscape Architecture, have been awarded a 2013 Pew Fellowship in the Arts.

The School of Design Graduation Ceremony will follow the University Commencement on May 13th and will be held on the Furness Plaza, located on 34th and Walnut Streets between Meyerson Hall and the Fisher Fine Arts Library. A luncheon for graduates and their guests will be provided before the ceremony beginning at 12:00 noon in Meyerson Hall. The graduation ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m.

This year we celebrate the 99th year of landscape architectural education at Penn!

To celebrate we are planning two things. The first is a richly illustrated book which tells the story of this remarkable institution and the second is a global alumni reunion. We anticipate that this will be the largest gathering of PennDesign landscape architecture graduates in our 99 year history, and we want to make sure you know about it now so that you can plan to be there.

Charles Waldheim, John E. Irving Professor of Landscape Architecture and Chair of the Department of Landscape Architecture, Harvard GSD teaches design studios at the intersection of landscape and contemporary urbanism. He offers the Proseminar in Landscape Architecture as well as lecture and seminar courses in the histories, theories, and contemporary practices of landscape architecture and urbanism.

Richard Weller, "An Art of Instrumentality"

Richard Weller is the Martin and Margy Meyerson Chair of Urbanism and Professor and Chair of Landscape Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania. Formerly he was Director of the Australian Urban Design Research Centre and the design firm Room 4.1.3. He was honored with an Australian National Teaching Award in 2012. In addition to three books regarding his design and planning work, he has published over 70 papers and given hundreds of public lectures around the world.

Richard Weller to Lead Landscape Architecture Department at the University of Pennsylvania School of Design

PHILADELPHIA--Dean Marilyn Jordan Taylor of the University of Pennsylvania School of Design is pleased to announce that Richard Weller has been recommended as Full Professor and Chair of the Department of Landscape Architecture.

Pending final University approval, Weller will assume Chairmanship January 2013, a position currently held by Professor James Corner, who has led the program since 2000.
