The Britton Harris Papers contain both published and unpublished writings dating from 1949 to 2004. Harris served as a Professor of City Planning, Transportation, and Public Policy as well as Dean of the School of Public and Urban Policy at the University of Pennsylvania. During his career, he helped pioneer the use of geographic information systems and consulted on several large international planning projects in developing countries. This collection of his writings represent his work in land use development, urban transportation planning, public policy, and computer modeling. While several items date to his time as a student at the University of Chicago, one quarter of the collection was written after 1988.
