Kit Elsworth is a lecturer in the Master of Environmental Building Design program and serves as a Building Performance Specialist in the Research Group at KieranTimberlake. At KieranTimberlake, Kit performs proactive and project specific research in the topics of occupant comfort, passive building systems, energy analysis, consultant engagement and workflows, and post-occupancy building performance. A key aspect of this role is to interpret research and analysis to generate actionable conclusions to guide design decisions for firm projects and influence the architecture industry as a whole. Kit is a member of the AIA’s Committee on the Environment 2030 Working Group to help evolve the AIA 2030 Commitment and increase industry participation. Locally, Kit participates in the Green Building United's Passive House Community subcommittee for Policy and Advocacy.
Before working at KieranTimberlake, Kit received his Master's from the University of California, Berkeley. Kit's thesis work focused on human thermal comfort at high metabolic rates in warm environments with the use of personally controlled fans to maintain comfort. In addition to thesis research, conducted independent research in the design and performance of evaporative downdraft cooling towers outside hot and arid climates. Kit also worked for Atelier Ten as an Environmental Designer for over three years.
