Tina returned to New York to establish her private practice in 2000 after practicing in Europe for five years with the Office for Metropolitan Architecture/Rem Koolhaas in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and the Richard Rogers Partnership in London, UK. As founding and principal partner in TINA MANIS associates, l.l.c., (formerly collaborative office, design + architecture), she has completed numerous commercial and residential commissions including a new build duplex townhouse residence in Brooklyn, NY, multiple residential, unique commercial interiors, and most recently, a New York headquarters for KaiKai KiKi-the studio, gallery and office of internationally renowned artist, Takashi Murakami. While with The Office for Metropolitan Architecture, she was the project architect and manager for the Illinois Institute of Technology McCormick Tribune Campus Center: a 100,000 SF mixed-use educational and recreational building completed in October 2003. In London, Tina worked for Richard Rogers Partnership as a designer and site coordinator for a mixed-use, 78-unit housing and retail project in Potsdamer Platz, Berlin, the Frankfurt Stock Exchange Building, Frankfurt, Germany, and Southbank Centre, in London, UK. Prior to her experience in Europe, she worked with Leslie Gill Architect; New York, and Tanner Leddy Maytum Stacy Architects; San Francisco.
Tina further expands her practice as an Adjunct Professor teaching graduate design studio in the department of Architecture at Columbia University's, Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. She has also taught at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate Design School, Barnard and Columbia Colleges, and interior design at The New School/Parsons School of Design. She has been a visiting critic at Princeton University, the University of California at Berkeley, and the Architectural Association in London. In addition to the Wallpaper Architects Directory her work has been published in, The Architect's Newspaper, Issue 18, Business Week (July 2007), and Architectural Record (March 2007). Works appearing in books include Nueva Arquitectura: de Interiores by Antonio Corcuera Aranguiz, 25 Lofts under 250 SF, City Apartments (Grayson Publishing) and the newly published Brooklyn Modern; Architecture, Interiors & Design (Rizzoli Press).
While at Columbia University Tina was awarded several scholarships and awards including the Louise Lowenfish Memorial Award for Design Excellence and was twice recipient of the William F. Kinne Fellowship to research Czech Functionalist Architecture in Prague and Brno. Tina is also a Founding Board Member of The Rosa Vera Fund whose mission is to facilitate preventative, medical and/or social interventions that would have otherwise not been possible for the children of Montero, Bolivia.
