Responding to COVID-19: Spring 2022

August 12, 2020

Dear Weitzman Students,

We recognize that the pandemic has brought substantial challenges in moving your studies online, and that the economic downturn has created serious financial pressures and uncertainty for many of you and your families. Consistent with the University’s decision to roll back the 3.9% tuition increase for the Fall 2020 Semester for undergraduates, as announced in an email to the Penn community on August 11, 2020, the Weitzman School will also roll back the 3.9% increase for our students for the Fall 2020 Semester. You should also know that the University will reduce the General Fee by 10% for the Fall. Student financial aid budgets for tuition and general fees will remain at current levels, despite the decrease in cost to students. Information about how this refund will be processed will follow shortly.

Please understand that our costs of operating for Academic Year 2020-2021 have increased significantly as we have invested in technology and taken essential health and safety measures to adapt our facilities and operations for the limited number of studios that will take place on campus.

I sincerely hope that you and your loved ones are safe and well, and that any hardship you face is short-lived. I wish you every success in your studies, and look forward to welcoming you formally at our New Student Orientation on Friday, August 28 at 9:00am EDT (for new students) and at Convocation on Monday, August 31 at 4:30pm EDT (for the entire Weitzman Community).  Links to these events will follow.

Sincerely,

Fritz
