Deirdre Murphy has been a visiting artist at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Pennsylvania College of Design and Bradford University (Illinois).  She has been an artist-in-residence at the Vermont Studio Center (Johnson, Vermont) and Pouch Cove Artist Residency (St. Johns, Newfoundland). Deirdre is a recipient of numerous awards and grants, most notably the Pennsylvania Council for the Arts Fellowship (2004) and a Leeway Foundation award (2003). Her work has been shown in numerous solo exhibitions in Philadelphia and at institutions such as the Philadelphia International Airport, Biggs Museum of American Art, New Bedford Museum, Tacoma Art Museum, University of Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art.  Her work has been published in New American Paintings and can be found in many public and private collections including Glenmede Trust Company, Temple University, Alphamed Press and Gamblin Artists Colors.  She is an adjunct professor at the University of Pennsylvania, and has taught at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art and Delaware County Community College.  Deirdre earned her MFA degree from the University of Pennsylvania (2000) and her BFA degree from the Kansas City Art Institute (1991).  She is represented by the Gross McCleaf Gallery in Philadelphia.
