How did you get interested in your field?
Art was always a huge part of my life and as I got older I found that by developing a deeply personal visual language through making, I was able to communicate in ways that were otherwise lost to me through verbal language.
What was your background prior to coming to the Unversity of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design?
I received my BFA in sculpture and textiles at Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia.
Why did you choose Penn?
It was important for me to stay in Philadelphia. The amazing faculty in the MFA program was a huge part of my decision as well the growing list of visiting artists.
What has been your favorite class so far?
Ken Lum’s “Making Space and Public Art”
What are you learning right now that will help you in the future?
To push myself to fail, to make mistakes, to question each step that I take in my studio practice with a more critical lens.
What do you like best about Philadelphia?
What are your career ambitions?
To be a practicing artist, and to teach art at a collegiate level.
