Zach Hammaker

Zachery Hammaker has a dual Master of Landscape Architecture and Master of City Planning degree from the University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Landscape Contracting with a minor in Horticulture from Pennsylvania State University and previously ran his own landscape design firm in the Philadelphia area.

His design interests lie at the intersection of planning, landscape architecture, and the environment – finding holistic solutions to the complexities of large-scale contemporary issues of climate change, cultural identity, socioeconomic disparity, and environmental degradation, especially in the interstitial spaces between rural and urban communities.

He has had several roles during his time at Penn, including landscape architecture representative for the Weitzman School of Design’s Student Council and Student Ambassador program, and Student Planning Association Representative. He has worked closely with faculty and staff as a Graphic Production team member for LA+ Journal, research assistant at the Ian McHarg Center, and held several teaching assistantships. He continues his teaching at University of Delaware as an adjunct professor and a continuing education instructor at Longwood Gardens. He is an Ian McHarg Center Dual Degree Fellowship recipient, ASLA Honor + Merit Award Nominee, and OLIN Work Fellowship nominee.
