Zachery Hammaker has dual Master of Landscape Architecture and Master of City Planning degrees from the University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design. He earned his Bachelor of Science in landscape contracting and minor in horticulture from Pennsylvania State University and has previously ran his own landscape design firm in the Philadelphia area. His design interests lie at the intersection of planning, landscape architecture, and the environment, finding holistic solutions to the complexities of large-scale contemporary issues of climate change, cultural identity, socioeconomic disparity, and environmental degradation, especially in the interstitial spaces between rural and urban communities. He has had several roles during his time at Penn, including the landscape architecture representative on the Penn Weitzman Student Council and roles in the Student Ambassador program and Student Planning Association . He has worked closely with faculty and staff as a graphic production team member for LA+ Journal and research assistant at the Ian McHarg Center and has held several teaching assistantships. He continues his teaching at University of Delaware as an adjunct professor and a continuing education instructor at Longwood Gardens. He is an Ian McHarg Prize recipient and dual degree fellowship recipient, ASLA Award nominee, and OLIN Work Fellowship nominee.
