Neri&Hu Design and Research Office has earned the #1 spot on Architizer's list of the 100 Best Firms in China.
Founded in 2006 by partners Rossana Hu, who is the Miller Professor and Chair of Architecture at Weitzman, and Lyndon Neri, Neri&Hu is an interdisciplinary architectural design practice based in Shanghai.
"From poetic examples of adaptive reuse, thoughtful examinations of how the past comes to bear on the present, to high-tech transportation design, the Chinese architects and firms are blurring boundaries between “tradition” and “modern” and, in so doing, reclaiming local architectural flavor in the era of global practice," according to Architizer's editors.
The practice’s burgeoning global portfolio includes commissions ranging from master planning and architecture to interior design, installation, furniture, product, branding and graphic works. Currently working on projects in many countries, Neri&Hu is composed of multicultural staff who speak over 30 different languages. The diversity of the team reinforces a core vision for the practice: to respond to a global worldview incorporating overlapping design disciplines for a new paradigm in architecture.
