Flexible Street is an interactive planning tool that helps cities decide where and when a street can flex — for play zones, outdoor dining, community events, or weekend markets. Piloted in Philadelphia, the platform scores every street segment on a 0–100 Flexibility Score Index (FSI), built from POI density, time-of-day modulators (traffic, weather, events), and AI streetscape understanding via LLaVA-7B vision embeddings.
The system runs entirely client-side — no backend, fully auditable, sub-100ms response. Planners get ranked candidates instead of intuition; organizers get data-backed cases for their block; residents see why a street will change. Hard safety vetoes (hospital, fire, police buffers) and coordination-cluster overlays surface trade-offs without distorting the score.
The result: thousands of streets, ranked transparently, ready for the right decision at the right hour.
