Amie Patel (MCP'20)

2019 Prize Recipient

Amie Patel (MCP'20)

Witte-Sakamoto Family Prize in City and Regional Planning

Amie Patel has a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of California, Davis. She worked as a Landscape Designer for 4 years in Southern California before coming to Penn to study City and Regional Planning. Born and raised in California, Amie has always been interested in designing the built environment. Working in Landscape Architecture gave her a technical understanding of construction and design, but she was always interested in who would be using the spaces and how it would affect the larger community. At Penn, Patel is concentrating in Urban Design and is interested in how designs can work with the existing community fabric. She hopes to work with stakeholders and continue to learn how to design with the community in mind.

Patel was selected by a jury that included Barbara Faga, professor of professional practice in Urban Design, Weitzman School,  Lisa Nutter, principal, Side Car Social Finance, Megan Ryerson, UPS Chair of Transportation and associate dean for research, Weitzman School, Weitzman Dean and Paley Professor Fritz Steiner, and Bill Witte, Weitzman alumnus and overseer and ceo of Related California.
