Ari Vamos

Ari is an interdisciplinary designer and researcher graduating from the Master of Landscape Architecture program. Their undergraduate degree is in urban studies and focused on the role of gender, race, and power in the production of space. Before graduate school, they worked in urban agriculture, community organizing, and neighborhood economic development in Philadelphia; this informed their interest in design as a tool for building collective agency and exploring equitable, resilient futures. Their studio and research work at Penn has focused on the potential for landscape architecture to support a just transition away from fossil fuels and toward equitable climate adaptation; particular areas of interest include rural and working landscapes, agricultural systems, and queer histories and futures.
