Boqian Xu

Boqian Xu is a Ph.D. candidate in City and Regional Planning from Weitzman School of Design, University of Pennsylvania. His doctoral dissertation studies China’s new towns and Eco-cities, focusing on what ecological thinking is needed for planning and how planners could integrate ecological thinking into practice. Boqian’s primary research field is ecological planning, including topics of Ecocity theory, ecological performance, land change, and ecological modeling.

Boqian is also a licensed Professional Landscape Architect with years of practice experience. He worked for several landscape architectural firms in China and the United States, including James Corner Field Operations in New York. Boqian holds a Master of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Landscape Gardening degree from Beijing Forestry University.
