Cyrus Yerxa

Cyrus Yerxa is a student of historic preservation at the University of Pennsylvania concentrating on architectural conservation. Alongside material science, Cyrus has a special interest in making a place for historic and contemporary issues of labor in our debates about the built environment. His thesis explored how the meanings of craft, craft preservation, and public perceptions of craft are embodied in our built heritage, and was focused on interpretation of the 125-year-old Moravian Pottery and Tile Works of Doylestown, PA. Before attending Penn, Cyrus worked as a carpenter framing and finishing residences in central Texas. He earned his degree in mathematics and philosophy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and grew up in the small farming town of Colusa, CA.
