Jingyi Li

Jingyi Li is an interdisciplinary Chinese artist, born in Beijing. She employs various media, including ceramics, multimedia installations, and social-engaged performances, to explores pressing social issues. By deep interest in the Taoism philosophy, particularly its connection to the environment and emphasis on harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. She draws elements from natural landscapes, abstracting and combining them with sculptures to create a powerful sense of balance between stability and instability, ultimately exploring their inherent connections with daily life.
 
Through exploring the mysteries of Taoism, Jingyi investigates the complexity of the universe, the periodicity of life and death. She incorporates Eastern aesthetics and the concept of living in harmony with nature to convey the beauty that exists between humans and nature. Her works aim to capture the turbulent moments in life and carve the intricate social consciousness, promoting conversation and reflection on the ever-evolving society we live in. In between, she aims to create a calm space that evokes the unpredictable and ever-evolving phenomena of society, generating conversations about time, space, and distance. Her work emphasizes the variability and complexity of humans, nature, and society, ultimately coming down to plainness.
