Julius Venuti

Julius became fascinated by the interconnected nature of urban systems at an early age growing up in New York City. He graduated from New York University with a bachelor’s degree in Metropolitan Studies with Honors where he developed his interest in public-private partnerships and studied their ability to either, or often simultaneously, improve or worsen social, economic, and environmental conditions within metropolitan areas. Prior to attending the Weitzman School of Design, Julius was an AmeriCorps VISTA working in a community and economic development role with a non-profit in Duluth, MN. At Weitzman, Julius was a Master of City Planning candidate concentrated on Public-Private Development. As a part of Fritz Steiner and Rebecca Popowsky’s joint city planning and landscape architecture studio, he planned a transit-oriented development scenario in South Baltimore in order to study its potential economic impact on the greater Northeast megaregion, specifically the transit corridor between Philadelphia and Baltimore. After graduation, Julius will join AECOM’s economic practice in Chicago, IL, where he will support both the public and private sectors on projects involving economic development, urban policy, and real estate development.
