Aimen Arain
Aimen is a member of the 2024 Master of Architecture class at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to pursuing Architecture at Penn, she received her B.A in Psychology with minors in Studio Art and Cinema Studies from the City College of New York.
Immigrating from Karachi to NYC, she navigated two multicultural urban centers which built on her insight and curiosity to explore the dynamic interrelation between identity, experience and built space.
Aimen’s transition towards pursuing a M.Arch has been especially invigorating. Her projects fostered a space for her to propose designs that aimed to address issues ranging from housing disparity to individual autonomy. This has been accentuated by her interest in prioritizing community-engagement, investigating site-contexts holistically and placing emphasis on emotional and physical interaction with space. During her final semesters, her studio projects were accentuated by her site travels to Seoul and Cappadocia. The opportunities to engage in additional interdisciplinary courses and build on meaningful inquiries and inspiring conversations with her colleagues and mentors have informed how she approaches design and is a practice she envisions carrying into her career.
