Clayton Monarch

Clayton is set to conclude his education with the completion of the Master of Architecture program. Throughout his time at Penn, Clayton has been committed to studio work, drawing inspiration from his peers and mentors. Serving as a teaching assistant and coordinator, he has enjoyed aiding the design faculty and supporting fellow students with their design processes. His recently finalized thesis project delves into the design ramifications of planned obsolescence and the influence of a Scandinavian culture of timber preservation on glue-less forms of mass timber. While at Penn, his own process has been challenged by material investigation and design constructability, with a personal intention of transforming standardized building elements into publicly significant spaces.
