Diego Martin

Diego Martin is an architectural designer, researcher and fabricator from Lima, Peru, with a passion for using design and technology to tell stories. He is interested in where and how people engage with the digital and physical world. In addition to pursuing his Master of Architecture degree, he has worked as a research assistant and a graduate residential advisor at Penn. As a research assistant, he has focused on furthering the efforts of housing justice in Philadelphia and is involved in two ongoing projects with the Philly Peace Park and the Save Chinatown Coalition. Martin was awarded 1st prize in the Baker Retailing Center’s 2022 Ideathon Competition, received honorable mention in the 2022 Schenk-Woodman design competition, and has been nominated for publication in the Department of Architecture’s annual portfolio, Pressing Matters XIII. As an undergraduate researcher, he was focused on developing a tool for understanding the housing construction and consolidation process of informal settlements in Lima. Martin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies from Vassar College and has 5 years of professional experience working with people-centered design organizations including Interboro Partners, Colloqate Design, and the Philadelphia City Planning Commission.
