I came to this school with an interest in exploring ecological restoration and finding a way to restore people's connection to the landscape. Throughout my time here I discovered increasingly interesting methods of practice, I feel as though landscape architecture is not restricted to standard practice but is also a field in which our skills are valuable to other pressing issues. I have worked hard as a student, research assistant, and design fellow at Penn Praxis. From researching vulnerable arctic landscapes in networks of mineral extraction, understanding practical wetland policy and salt marsh restoration, To riding around in an airboat in Florida, and to working with Indigenous communities near my own hometown. Each project, academic or professional, I pursued here provided me with a didactic experience in seeing how we as landscape architecture students are able to bring attention and offer alternative solutions. My time at Weitzman has allowed me to expand my perspectives in addition to developing my interests further.
