Lauren Pawlowski
Lauren is receiving her Master’s in City Planning with a concentration in Land Use and Environmental Planning. She is passionate about climate resilience and implementing equitable solutions to environmental challenges. She is particularly interested in improving food systems, green spaces, health, housing, and water resources.
Lauren received her undergraduate degrees in Environmental Studies and Economics from the University of Connecticut Honors Program. She has published research on environmental justice issues within Connecticut, her home state. Overall, her studies at Penn have expanded her planning knowledge, provided her with new perspectives, and strengthened her design and technical skills.
During her time at Penn, Lauren worked on many sustainability-related projects, including urban spatial growth modeling and floodplain management studies. For her city planning studio in Kisumu, Kenya, she created plans for public parks and a bike-pedestrian path along Lake Victoria. She also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant for Professor Allison Lassiter on sea level rise research and served as a Graduate and Professional Student Assembly (GAPSA) Representative for the Weitzman School of Design.
After graduate school, Lauren is excited to dive deeper into the environmental planning field, help cities address pressing sustainability issues, and create more thriving communities.
