Michael Dunst

As a Master of City Planning student passionate about making better places to live, I use my skills in transportation planning, geospatial analysis, and real estate development to make urban spaces safe, sustainable, and equitable. At my core, I trust in the value of data to guide planners and decision-makers to make the right trade-offs with limited public resources. This has been supported by Penn's strong curriculum in geospatial analysis, machine learning-supported models, and economic analysis. While not in class, I have worked with organizations such as the USDOT's Volpe Center and Philadelphia's own SEPTA, applying analytical skills to Complete Streets, GIS, and fare analysis projects. I look forward to continuing a career serving the public good in expanding and improving alternative transportation modes. My professional interests bleed into my free time as I love to bike and take transit to explore whatever city I'm in. Some non-city-related interests of mine also include playing music, seeing concerts and movies, and traveling to visit friends. After graduation, I am excited to be moving to Chicago, IL where I will be continuing my work in data-informed transportation planning, biking along Lake Michigan, and attending all of the city's festivals.
