Akira (Aki) Di Sandro
Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago and graduating from Oberlin College with a degree in Mathematics and Neuroscience, Aki first came to Philadelphia to start her job as a Data Analyst in a Psychiatry lab doing academic research on developmental patterns for Psychosis-related disorders. She found the work fascinating, but soon realized that she wanted to do more applied data science where the results of her analyses have a real life impact in real time. As a Penn employee, she took Public Policy Analytics, and immediately felt a pull towards GIS-related and public health-facing data science. Now, equipped with a year worth of rigorous Urban Spatial Analytics training, Aki is excited to continue refining her skills working as a GIS analyst in the public sector, hopefully right here in the City of Brotherly Love!
